Africa Travel Planning

The success of any true African safari is directly linked to the amount and quality of planning that goes into it’s preparation. This is especially true as travellers to Africa become less satisfied with being shepherded around the wilderness in large groups, preferring instead a more personalised, individual style of travel.

One of the essential ingredients of a great safari is an exciting and original itinerary. This in turn requires careful and thoughtful planning integrating several elements. Essentially, the key to successful planning lies in using in-depth and up to date local knowledge to carefully balance a clients interests and expectations with an appropriate destination and resource best suited to meet those requirements.

Given the proliferation of information on Africa through travel guides and the internet it is relatively easy for anyone plan an itinerary of their own, on paper that is! However, the reality of what happens on the ground in Africa may turn out to be totally different with little or no opportunity for recourse.

Most people have a fair idea of where they would like to go and what they would like to do, others have very little idea or no experience of Africa and some with specific interests know exactly what they require from their safari. Either way, through a proven process African Safaris Travel is always able to put forward a set of original itineraries as a basis for consideration or further modification as required.

Hotels and Safari Lodges in Africa

Accommodation Options on a safari to Africa

Experiencing the essence, excitement and romance of a safari in Africa is not limited to the time one is touring the bush viewing scenery and wildlife. The whole experience should include an accommodation style and locality which compliments the adventure and ambiance of your safari.

Africa offers a great variety of styles and many different standards of quality when it comes to lodging. New camps and lodges of all varieties continue to appear. Some existing establishments have had a change of ownership
and/or management and these changes have in some cases brought great benefit, in other cases standards have slipped. Through continued visits to Africa we at African Safaris Travel constantly monitor the availability, standards, quality and localities of existing and new accommodation on offer. maximum room capacity of 30 guests at any one time providing bed and breakfast.

For visitors on Africa vacation or holidays, accommodation facilities may include luxurious hotels, guest houses, motels, safari lodges, inns and campsites at discount costs

Some times we seek reservation for the smaller, remoter and more exclusive camps and bandas for our clients. Particularly one’s that facilitate good wildlife viewing and the experiences of exploring on foot, by vehicle or by canoe as additional tourism activities. Most important is that they must deliver quality, comfort and a real African essence whilst blending into the harshness of the surrounding bush.

Africa Safari Destinations

There are many safari destinations to be found within Africa. The most well known are located in East equatorial and Southern Africa. From snow capped mountains reaching to 17,000ft. to low lying coastal plains, tropical rain forest right through to desert, the variety of wilderness is unrivaled. This great variety of choice often poses the question of where to go on safari to Africa. One thing is for sure it is impossible to cover all the destinations effectively in one visit.

We recommend you segment Africa’s safari destinations into groups such as: Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania (with Zanzibar or Seychelles), Zambia and Botswana/Zimbabwe (with Zanzibar or Mauritius), South Africa with either Botswana or Namibia (with Mauritius or Seychelles) and lastly South Africa on it’s own. Using the destination grouping approach means less international travel and local transfer time and more time for a safari and to relax. All of the above mentioned countries have great wilderness regions and providing a safari is conducted in a reputable and professional manner none will fail to impress.

For first time travellers to Africa we recommend either the Tanzania and Zanzibar/Pemba tours option or the Uganda holidays, Kenya vacations and Rwanda safari options. Kenya has much to offer as a tourist destination while Uganda and Rwanda’s gorilla tracking tours genuine safaris. Apart from wildlife travel, East Africa also offers the best birdwatching destinations in Africa, in addition to white water rafting, kayaking and bungee jumping in Uganda, not forgetting mountain climbing adventures.
